THE LAST POST... well... sort of

Well folks.

Here we are.

It's April.

School is almost out.

Summer is fast approaching.

The days are getting warmer, the sun is shining longer, and the trees are shedding this yellow dust that makes me run for the safety of the indoors.

It is a very bittersweet last few days here. Joel and I are currently watching 24 while Justin is playing on the computer and Ben is chatting with his family back home.

The conversations have moved from Clemson sports and special events to summer plans and beach trips. Everyone is moving back home this weekend. Some earlier than later. But I do feel that we all have grown tremendously over the past year.

I'm gonna miss these guys. I've tried to think of some imparting wisdom or knowledge to leave these guys, but truly they have a better grasp on living life than I do. They are kind to everyone and never judge. They say "please" and "thank you" more in a day than I say in a week. They love their family and say so often.

I pray simply that they would all live life and love others. But... they already do that so well. Thank you families for your support. I have enjoyed this opportunity and count it as a blessing to live with these three. Please keep in touch as I plan to as well.

Here are a few pictures of our wonderful graduation ceremony and hopefully a few other videos and pictures to follow...

SORRY!

So I have disappeared for a while. No... we did not all drop out of school. We are still here. We made it through the winter. We did not run out of milk and bread. Things were just... well... busy.

I am finishing up my student teaching and have had an absolute blast doing it. My students are amazing and I am actually getting a little sad knowing I have only two weeks left with them. I need to figure out something special to do with them before we finish up.

And I guess you all know this but... things are winding down here as well. But here are some highlights to make up for my three month absence.

Winter- It was great. We had snow a few times. The cold kept us indoors mostly which made us all a little stir crazy. But the guys went to a play or two, cooked a few good meals with some volunteers, danced all night at dance marathon, and had a few movie nights.

Spring- Well... besides the consistent dusting of pollen over everything, spring has been great to us so far.
  • We went to a baseball game last week (amazing). The Clemson Tigers beat the Georgia Bulldogs 14 - 6. Take that Reeves family. Your son has severed his ties. Clemson for life.
  • We have had a few family visits which have been much needed.
  • My beloved Duke Blue Devils won the National Championship so I will continue the gloating for a full year.
  • There is talk of having a "function" with a sorority on campus. Not sure which one or if that was just a rumor... but sounds exciting. I had heard a beach theme.
  • We are having a graduation ceremony at the end of the week for a few of the students including our very own Joel Reeves.
  • Justin has started taking yoga again for fun on Monday nights.
  • The guys will be helping out at the Special Olympics next Friday (April 23rd).
  • Then we move out after that.
Wow. A busy two weeks. We may try to add a baseball game or two in there somewhere. The days are so nice it is a shame not to be outside. I'll try to post a few pictures and videos in the next two weeks for the few people who still check out the website. Sorry I have not been a faithful blogger.

Well... thanks for sticking with us here. Two more weeks to go.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOEL!

IT'S JOELS BIRTHDAY!!! For another hour or so.

Joel is now 21 years old. What an old man! His parents got him a new COMPUTER!!! Along with his other gifts from friends and family, Joel racked up tonight!

14b went along with the Reeves to Longhorn Steakhouse. Man was it good. It's now sleeting, and it's looking like snow will be following most of the day tomorrow. Yes sir. Snow. Lots of it, hopefully! Just in time for Joel's birthday.

Make sure you wish him a good one!

hi

Hello friends and family. It's raining. Let me rephrase... it's monsoon-ing. Crazy. It was SOOO nice last weekend and a little of this week. Then it turned cold and rainy. I would like for it to either stay cold (but no rain) or bring on the sunshine. This in-between is killing me. Isn't it weird how much the weather can affect our moods?

Ok. Enough of that deep philosophical stuff. Let's see... my schedule has gotten a little wild. I started my student teaching this past week, but I start teaching my first class tomorrow. I only pick up one class tomorrow (thankfully) but am excited about it. I'm ready. At least I think I'm ready. I've been looking over my lesson plans today and am happy with them. Although, I've been told that they may change a few hundred times before I actually teach all of the material. It's so unpredictable how well the students will grasp and idea or concept. I'll let you know for sure tomorrow!

I was off this weekend. I went to a basketball game Friday night, played golf Saturday morning, went to the Clemson/Duke game Saturday night, then went to church this morning in Greenville. Quite a good weekend.

I think the guys had a good weekend too. Matt filled in for me this weekend... they love having him over. They caught up on laundry, watched the Clemson game, worked on homework, and played board games in Tillman with some volunteers. Ben's mom and dad came for a visit... man was he excited to see them. Mrs. Limpert left us some yummy pasta and marinara sauce. I think we'll have that sometime this week. Joel is working on his typing homework and watching football at the same time. Justin just cooked some lasagna and is hanging out in his room. A good fashioned relaxing weekend at home.

This week should be fun. Some volunteers are coming to help cook on Thursday night... not sure what they are having yet though. I may have to sneak in and grab some of the leftovers if they have any. Joel is going to FCA on Thursday night, I think. Justin has started a new job working with the Campus Police. Class tomorrow night for Ben and Joel (keyboarding). Justin just started an Adobe Photoshop class online... whew. That's the run down for now. More to come!

January 11th 2010

Well folks. We are back. Yesterday was our great return and things are starting off well. I got a new crock-pot for Christmas so I cooked some barbecue chicken last night... and it was goooood. My brother Adam and one of the volunteers Andrew stopped by for dinner. It was a good relaxing first night back.

So I guess you may be wondering what's on the ticket for the next few weeks. Well... let me tell you. Basketball season has kicked off and Clemson is currently ranked in the nation's top 25. We play North Carolina on Wednesday night (big game). I'm working on getting us some tickets to at least one game this season. They are a lot of fun to go to. We are definitely going to go see the girls play sometime soon.

Joel and Ben went this morning to sign up for a keyboarding class at Tri-County Technical College. It's just about 5 or so minutes from campus. Justin is great with computers but Joel and Ben are getting there. This class will definitely help them out. Justin will stay on campus during this time... not sure what class he'll be taking though.

MLK weekend should be a ton of fun. We have that Monday off of school so I guess we need something fun to do. It's been so cold the past few days but I think it is supposed to warm up a little by this weekend. Maybe we'll have a movie day or something. Justin came back with a few good movies so I think we're good there.

I was a little worried last night about the guys getting back into the routine and waking up on time this morning... but... they did great. I woke up around 7:30 in hopes that everyone was up and running. And they were. I think I underestimate them sometimes.

It's going to be a great semester.

PS- How many times have you written 2009 instead of 2010... I can't get used to it.
